This guide explains the different candidate statuses on the Karat platform. This content is intended for recruiters and other users on the Karat platform.
You may encounter various statuses when reviewing candidates. These statuses represent the candidate's stage in the interview process and help Karat identify outcomes to provide comprehensive analytics for your organization.
If your organization has enabled an ATS integration, the status will be automatically retrieved from your ATS. If your organization doesn’t have an ATS integration or a shared sheet with Karat, you will likely need to update these statuses manually.
Active
Interview Pending
The "Interview Pending" status indicates that the candidate has completed their Karat interview, but it is still being processed by Karat's team and has not yet been “shipped".
Ready to Review
Interview Ready to Review
Once an interview is completed and processed by the Karat team, it will be “shipped” to you, meaning the interview will appear on your Karat account with the status "Interview Ready to Review". You will see the interview, Karat's recommendation, and have access to the full interview recording and coding exercise. From here, it is up to you whether to move forward with the candidate and invite them to the next round or decline them.
Next Steps
Invited to Phone Screen or Invited to Onsite Interview
After reviewing the interview and determining whether to invite the candidate to the next round of interviews, you will use either the "invited to phone screen'"or "invited to onsite interview" status, depending on your recruiting process. If you conduct phone screens before the Karat interview, you would select the invited to onsite interview status.
Offer Outstanding
After a candidate completes the interview process and receives an offer, the status will be "offer outstanding", until they either accept or decline the offer.
Inactive
Declined at Karat Interview
This status means that you have decided to not move forward with the candidate after reviewing their Karat interview.
Declined at Phone Screen
This status indicates that the candidate was brought to the next round after completing the Karat interview, but did not pass the phone screen interview.
Declined at Onsite Interview
This status indicates if a candidate is declined at the onsite interview stage, it means that they advanced past the Karat interview but didn’t pass the onsite interview.
Offer Declined
This status indicates that the candidate chose to decline after receiving an offer.
Inactive
This status shows that the candidate is no longer in the process, but was not actively declined by you. Occasionally candidates choose to discontinue the interview process.
Hired
Offer Accepted
This final status indicates that the candidate has successfully passed all interview stages, received an offer, and chosen to accept it.
