This article provides examples of the automated emails candidates receive during the Karat assessment process, including Karat Core interviews and Karat Qualify quizzes. This content is intended for all audiences.
After the candidate is invited to the Karat assessment, they will receive a series of emails that include confirmations, reminders, and post-interview communications.
Karat Core Interview
The Karat Core Interview is the primary type of interview at Karat. It is a virtual technical interview service designed to assess a candidate's technical skills through a live video call, typically lasting between 45 to 60 minutes.
Automated Emails timeline
- Invite email: Email to schedule Karat interview.
- Reminder #1 (48 hours after the invite): Reminder email sent if the candidate hasn’t scheduled their interview.
- Reminder #2 (6 days from being invited): Reminder email sent if the candidate hasn’t scheduled their interview.
- Interview being Scheduled: Confirmation email sent after the candidate schedules their interview.
- 72 hours before the interview: A reminder email titled "Your [Client] Interview is Coming Up!" is sent, introducing the Redo Opportunity if enabled for the role.
- 36 hours before the interview: Another reminder about their upcoming interview titled, “Your [Client] Interview is Coming up!“.
- 24 hours before the interview: Another reminder about their upcoming interview titled, “Your [Client] Interview is Coming up!“.
- 1 hour before their interview: Reminder about their upcoming interview.
- 1 hour after the interview begins: An email is sent requesting feedback about the candidate’s experience. If available, the email includes a link to schedule a Redo interview.
The following sections show an example of the email that a candidate receives in each stage of the interview process at Karat. For these examples, we are using "Diamond.ly" as the organization that invites the candidate through the Karat interview process.

Schedule Your [Organization] Interview!
As soon as the candidate is invited to a Karat interview, an email is sent to the candidate which includes a link for them to schedule their interview.
Don't Forget to Schedule Your [Organization] Interview!
If the candidate has not already scheduled their interview, a reminder email is sent 48 hours after the invite and again 6 days after the invite.
Your [Organization] Interview Has Been Scheduled
The Interview has been scheduled by either the candidate or recruiter. A confirmation email is sent to the candidate once their interview is scheduled.
Your [Organization] Interview is Coming Up!
- A reminder email is sent 48 hours before the interview. This is the first time the Redo Opportunity is mentioned if it is toggled 'On' for the role.
- A second reminder email is sent 24 hours before the interview.
Reminder: Your [Organization] interview starts in one hour
Reminder about their upcoming interview.
How was your interview?
One (1) hour after the completion of the interview, the candidate receives an email asking for feedback about their experience and, if it is available, a link to schedule their Redo interview.
Your interview results have been delivered to [Organization]
Candidates are notified when their results are shared with the organization.
Additional emails around interview cancellations and reschedules are also delivered to candidates when the situation arises.
Karat Qualify quiz
The Karat Qualify quiz is an on-demand multiple-choice assessment that evaluates a candidate's knowledge of a specific technology, language, or real-world engineering concepts.
Automated Emails timeline
- Invite email: Email to take Karat Qualify quiz.
- Reminder (24 hours before expiration, if the expiration period is 3 days): A reminder email is sent if the candidate hasn’t completed the quiz.
- Reminder (48 hours before expiration time, if duration is greater to 3 days): Reminder email if the candidate haven't completed the quiz.
- Reminder (halfway through the valid duration, only if duration is equal or greater to a week): Reminder email if the candidate haven't completed the quiz.
- Two additional reminders are sent for expiration periods of 4 weeks or longer: one at one-third of the expiration period, and another at two-thirds
