This guide provides an overview of the candidate journey through the Karat interview process. This content is intended for recruiters and other users on the Karat platform.
1. Candidate invited to Karat interview
The recruiter invites the candidate to interview with Karat. At this stage, it’s important to ensure the candidate is familiar with Karat and understands the purpose of the contact. Once the recruiter sends the invitation, the candidate will receive an email from Karat.
2. Candidate schedules their interview
The invitation email allows candidates to schedule their interview by selecting an available date and time. It also includes information about the Karat interview.
3. Confirmation sent with invitation prep environment
After a candidate schedules their interview, they receive a confirmation email with details on setting up their computer and preparing for the Karat interview.
With this email, candidates gain access to the Candidate Dashboard (prep environment) and can begin preparing for the interview. This includes familiarizing themselves with the setup, exploring Karat Studio (the coding environment), and testing their equipment. They can also review the FAQs and videos provided in the email.
4. Candidate completes Karat interview
The candidate completes the interview on the date and time they selected during scheduling. If they need to reschedule or cancel, they can do so through Candidate Dashboard or contact support@karat.com for assistance.
5. Interview is processed with Karat and shipped within 24 hours
Within 24 hours of the interview’s completion, the recruiter and anyone receiving notifications for that role will be updated that the interview has been shipped.
6. Review Karat interview and make a decision
Recruiters and other team members can review the full video, coding exercise, and the Karat recommendation. The hiring team then decides whether to advance the candidate to the next stage or decline them.
7. Option for redo if enabled
If the hiring team allows redo interviews, the candidate has the option to request one and complete a redo (second interview), restarting the process.
When a candidate requests a redo, the original interview will not be shipped until the redo is completed. Both interviews will then be shipped together.
