How can I reset my password?
If a user can't log in or can't remember their password, an admin can send an email to the user so they can reset their password.
- Log in to the Karat platform.
- Click Settings.
- Click the Users tab.
- Search for the user by name or email using the search bar.
- After you have the user listed in the results, click on the user's name.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Click Reset Password. This action sends an email to the user so they can reset their password.
Why can't I find a hired candidate in the Karat platform?
If a candidate has been marked as "hired" (either manually or via an ATS integration), they will only be visible to client admins and that candidate's own recruiter. This is to prevent users from viewing their team members' Karat results.
Why don't I have the "Advance to a Karat Stage" option for my candidate after a Karat Qualify interview?
If you don't see the "Advance to a Karat Stage" option for your candidate, your Karat Qualify and Karat Core may be separate roles, and you won't have the option to "advance" your candidate. If you're not sure this is happening or you need to change this setup, reach out to support@karat.com.
Where can I read about the Privacy and Security policies?

Karat Now
What is Karat Now?
Karat Now is an integrated acceleration feature designed to quickly identify and advance candidates who have demonstrated their qualifications in a prior Karat Interview.
How does Karat determine that a candidate is eligible to be accelerated via Karat Now?
Karat evaluates a candidate’s previous interview performance and recalibrates the results using your customized scoring methodology and hiring bar. This process considers the specific skills and competencies required for the role. If the recalibrated score meets your hiring bar, the candidate becomes eligible for acceleration via Karat Now.
What happens when a candidate is accelerated via Karat Now?
If a candidate has sufficiently demonstrated their qualifications in a previous Karat Interview, they do not need to retake it. Instead, they are advanced directly to the next stage of your interview process.
How can I tell if a candidate has been accelerated via Karat Now?
There are two ways to identify a Karat Now candidate:
- You’ll receive an email from Karat letting you know that a specific candidate has been accelerated via Karat Now.
- The interview results for any accelerated candidate will include a “Karat Now” tag near the top of the page.
Does Karat Now recalibrate across different roles (e.g. backend to frontend)?
Karat Now accelerates candidates only if their previous interview evaluated skills relevant to your role. For instance, candidates for backend roles requiring proficiency in Data Structures & Algorithms or frontend roles requiring React expertise will only be considered if these skills were tested in their previous interview.
Can I see the interview result that led to the candidate’s acceleration?
Yes, when a candidate is accelerated, you’ll receive their previous interview results including a recalibrated recommendation, coding output, and in-depth scoring breakdown. The only difference is that the result will not include the video or coding playback.
Are candidates aware that their previous interviews are being shared?
Yes, interview results will only be shared in cases where both criteria are met:
- The candidate has explicitly given permission to share their previous result.
- Karat believes that sharing the result will be to the candidate’s benefit.
If a candidate’s rescored interview does not meet your hiring bar, we will not share the result. Instead, we will proceed with the standard Karat Technical Interview.
Karat API
What is Karat API?
The Karat API is a self-serve integration that uses GraphQL to allow clients to integrate their system of choice with the Karat Platform.
What does Karat API do?
The Karat API allows programmatic use of Karat for most routine Karat workflows. Using the Karat API you can:
- Create and delete Users.
- Invite candidates to interview with Karat.
- Schedule interviews.
- Update candidates.
- Update candidacies with the eventual outcome for each candidate.
Can I download interview results in PDF format via the Karat API?
No, Karat does not currently support downloading interview results in PDF format via the Karat API. To download candidate's interview results in PDF see How to: Export interview results as a PDF .
What can I build with Karat API?
- Karat API can be integrated with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to streamline the interview scheduling process for recruiters and hiring managers.
- With this integration, recruiters can schedule technical interviews with Karat directly from the ATS, eliminating the need for manual scheduling and reducing the time to fill open positions.
- The integration also allows for real-time candidate feedback and assessment data to be automatically added to the ATS, giving hiring teams a more comprehensive view of a candidate’s interview performance.
- Overall, the Karat API integration with ATS can help companies improve their hiring processes and make more informed hiring decisions.
Note: the Karat API integration typically takes clients around 30 days or more to build depending on the amount of resources you have available to dedicate to the build.
Accessibility and Accommodation Requests
How accessible is our coding environment, Karat Studio?
Our in-house coding environment and video conferencing software, Karat Studio, were designed with accessibility in mind. Karat Studio offers a high accessibility score, a simple-to-use interface, support for high contrast mode, large fonts, and text chat functionality.
We understand that the ideal setup for candidates requiring special accommodations is often their own, highly configured development environment. For this reason, candidates may request to use their personal IDE. In such cases, our Interview Engineers use screen sharing to follow along with the candidate's process.
Has Karat worked with an accessibility specialist?
We have worked with professional accessibility specialists to ensure that our processes for collecting accommodation requests, managing candidate data, and assessing skills are fair and inclusive. We also plan to conduct formal user research studies in the near future to further enhance our practices.
Are there any cases Karat has not been able to handle?
Karat has never turned away a candidate due to an accommodation request. Our platform’s flexibility, combined with the expertise of our support specialists and highly trained Interview Engineers, enables us to assess the skills of all candidates effectively.
How does billing work?
Interviews requiring extended time to accommodate candidate needs are billed at the same rate as standard 60-minute interview slots. Karat absorbs the additional time required by our Interview Engineers to assess candidates.
